The Township of Derry Police Department's Patrol fleet is a hybrid of marked and unmarked Ford Crown Victorias, Chevrolet Caprices, Chevrolet Tahoes and one Jeep Cherokee.
Ford Crown Victoria Patrol Vehicle AppearanceThe marked police Chevys are Adriatic Blue and the Fords are Wedgewood Blue, with Streethawk light bars or Code-3 light bars respectively. Each unit has wig-wags (flashing headlights), strobes in the taillights, and an arrow board under the light bar, as well as alley lights and a spotlight. All units are trimmed with light blue and yellow and display unit identification numbers. Derry units are 2600 units, with patrol units 2620, 2621, 2622, 2624, 2625 and 2628. The Shift Supervisor vehicle is numbered 2603. The Township of Derry Police Department patch is emblazoned on the front door of each marked unit. Currently, the K-9 section has three Chevrolet Caprices and the Mobile Indentification Unit is a refurbished ambulance. The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement unit (2654) and the Community Service Officer unit (2695) are full-size Chevrolet vans.
Chevrolet Tahoe Patrol Vehicle EquipmentAll patrol units are equipped with a VASCAR-Plus electronic speed timing device. In addition to mobile radios and lighting/siren controls, patrol units carry Remington shotguns. Principles of officer safety dictate that some equipment not be listed or specified by type.
